1000 Grandmothers Prayer Initiative is a collective of the spirit of the grandma, granny's, nana's, big mama, madear, and all the many and varied affectionate terms for the unconditional and indescribable love of a grandmother. In the spirit of Holly Near's lyrics, "1000 Grandmothers," we shall advocate for a more peaceful society for children in particular and the restoration of the family God calls us to be in general. This was established in response to the many, many, many girls (and boys) who are placed in the foster care system, some in homes, others in group homes or juvenile hall. The numbers are too great to be ignored. So, grandmothers, let's get going! Let's pray for the change we want to see by being the change God has called us all to be! 1000 Grandmothers is a social justice response to Luke 4:17-18, and in partial fulfillment of a graduate course in Advocacy with Bakke Graduate School of Theology--Global Urban Leadership.
